Get Your Haida Gwaii Accommodations Ready

There are probably a lot of places where you would like to go on your next or your first out of the country vacation. Most of the places that you might have in mind are those that you usually see in TV or read in the magazines. But sometimes, the most exquisite place are those that you do not usually hear people talk about. One good example is the Haida Gwaii Islands that would surely offer you a nice nature trip.

Haida Gwaii which is also known as the Queen Charlotte Islands is an archipelago that is located at the northern part of British Columbia. The islands are separated by three boundaries. The Hectate Strait for British Columbia to the East, in the north is the controversial Dixon Entrance towards Alaska, US and in the south is the Queen Charlotte Sound as the boundary for the Vancouver Island. With this many places to explore you will surely need to reserve some fine Haida Gwaii accommodations.

Gwaii Haanas Natural Reserve Park is the biggest, literally, attraction in the Charlottes. It is a vast forest area that protects wild life and extinct animals like the black bear. It is properly situated in the southern part and is well protected by authorities. Once you are inside the park, you will know for sure why there is a need to protect this place.

The Haanas Park is also known for its rich cultural heritage. You will be mesmerized with the long standing tradition of the people that is still being practiced nowadays. You can also see the longhouses that dates a thousand years back. There are tours available from the months of April up to October for those who want to visit.

Located in the Naikoon Provincial Park is a cliff that measures 400 feet and was formed because of a volcanic eruption. Below the cliff is a blowhole that erupts mist when the waves from the ocean would collide into it. Another site that you should go to in this par is the North Beach where you can enjoy digging clams.

The Charlottes does not only boast of forest wildlife but marine life as well. You will enjoy whale watching when spring comes. Hundreds of humpbacks and orcas will greet you and your family.

The fine arts teaching centre that is located within the Haida Heritage Centre is something to visit. You can see students while they carve canoes and even totem poles. The place also offers performances about Haidans tradition.

Haida Gwaii Museum is where you will find the colorful history of the Haida people. It can also be considered as a burial place. Many of their ancestors are buried around the museum.

Despite not being famous as the other places in the world, the Charlottes would surely give you memories that you can cherish forever. It will also teach you some of life lessons that you would do well to remember. One of this is that you should take care of nature and in return it will give your eyes a sight to behold.
