You Will Love Your Shaver Lake Camping Experience

By Beryl Dalton

There are many people that simply can't wait for their vacation to start so that they can get out into nature. The Shaver Lake camping grounds in Fresno County in California is a place that offers nature in abundance. It is a manmade lake and has a melancholy logging theme as the land was considerably logged while been constructed.

There is a marina in the campgrounds and they offer a large selection of water crafts from which to rent. Many like to set up camp for the day on the shores and frolic in the water. Unfortunately spending the night along the shoreline is not allowed so things will need to be packed up at the end of the day and taken back to the camping site.

The town which was formerly named Musick Creek does not have many occupants. In 2010 it was estimated that only about six hundred and thirty four people lived there. In the beginning the lake was made to operate as a mill pond and it was forty two miles long. The original town was later destroyed as that land was used to make the lake larger.

They have enough camp sites for two hundred and fifty two visitors with clean restrooms, stores as well as a Laundromat and fish cleaning stations. Some sites can accommodate up to three tents with room for pop up trailers. Each site has a cook centre and hose bib. Many have a view of the water and some are even on the reservoir itself.

Fresno County was first discovered by the Spaniards and in 1846 became a part of the United States of America. This was because of the Mexican War as a result of a border dispute between Mexico and Texas. There were more than seven different battles but the most well known one was The Alamo. The American Army won many and in 1848 it ended with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Mexico then sold off more than half of their land to the United States.

The Pacific Crest hiking trail is truly breathtaking. It is not for the unfit as it is about four thousand kilometers long over rocky terrain. Many even use this trail for horse riding. The route goes through seven national parks as well as twenty five national forests which leave many awestruck at its beauty. There is also a bicycle route that runs parallel to the hiking trail and these come together about twenty seven times along the route.

Many prefer to stay in cabins instead of camping and there are a variety of different places where one can spend a few days. There are hotels as well as log cabins to choose from. There are a few that are only five minutes drive from the lake. Many can sleep multiple guests at a time.

There are many different and enjoyable activities that one can do at the Shaver camping grounds. It is a place to just relax and take in the beauty that is all around. Many are too busy with life to sit back and to truly see what this planet has to offer.
