Is There A Female Midlife Crisis

By Tanisha Berg

Men are going through midlife crises, yes, but what about women. They both go through this uneasy period of life, but they have different problems and they react differently. It doesn't mean that female midlife crisis is easier, just the opposite. Men will try to overcompensate their lost years, but women might experience more serious problems.

If you spend your life caring for someone's needs, for your parents, husband, children, you didn't get the opportunity to self-realize. You simply never had time to have interesting hobbies, to make a career, to write a novel or to travel. Maybe you are quite satisfied with your accomplishments as wife and mother, but one large part of you is still missing.

It is somehow easier for working women, although they had more complicated lives so far. When their children leave their home, they still have their job and their careers. Their lives aren't tied to the house exclusively. They have other opportunities, working experience and different vision of life. They provide, and this really is a great difference.

Once your children leave your home, you suddenly have too much free time. At first, the house is empty and too big, too silent. If your husband is still working, you can wrap your life around taking care of his needs, but it won't be enough for long. At some point, you will have to find something that will occupy you.

Another problem related to this period of life is accepting physical changes of your face and body. You can still be really attractive, but the fact is that middle aged woman won't stop the traffic. Yesterday you were still young and sexy, and today people see someone else. And you still feel so young inside.

At one point in your life people will inevitably start to perceive you as a middle aged woman. One morning you will realize that your youth is gone, and there is no point in dreaming about new and different life. You simply don't have time or energy to do some things you were putting away for so long.

Another thing you might dreamed of is that you will go back to work. The fact is that you have no experience, you haven't been working for maybe twenty years and times had changed. Most employers want fresh, young people, or highly experienced experts. If you cannot start your own business, your chances are slimmer than you thought.

At first, you will be probably shocked. Maybe you'll get depressed or angry at first, but you will probably find a way to pass through this all. The only problem is that women go through their menopause in the same time, and that may cause hormonal imbalance and both physical and psychical problems.

Well, all these things aren't really so bad. They only look like this at first sight. In fact, you are really one great looking, sexy woman, and your ages simply don't matter. You are capable, healthy and strong, full of wonderful ideas and valuable life experience. People will recognize that as soon as you start to act accordingly. Show your potentials and find new interests in your life.
