A Proper Guided Gator Hunting In Louisiana

One of the largest known reptiles in Louisiana and in US at large is the alligator. These reptiles have a population that is approximated to be 1.4 million. Commercial farms produce much of these kinds of reptiles. The hunting in Louisiana is done in the month of September of every year. The Wildlife and Fisheries department in the city has the mandate to set the date to go for hunting. The experience becomes more enjoyable if the hunter has guided gator hunting in Louisiana.

Licensed hunters are the only people allowed to go hunting in the habitats. They are supposed to possess or lease a land classified as wetland habitat. The owners are issued with harvest tags by the Department of Wildlife. The qualified hunters are given guides and accompanied throughout their trips.

The non-resident hunters who have leased or owned land in the city use Hunter Licenses and are mostly accompanied by guides who have valid tags. They aid them in accessing the best habitats on the marshes. They are able to take you to the unsurpassed habitats with the biggest catch. In these habitats, one can get an 8 feet long catch also known as the trophy alligator. Harvest tags should be put on them. Taxidermy is not incorporated in cost of trip.

The trips may involve overnight lodging or may not involve it. Some guides may take the hunters for weekday trips or weekend trips. Weekend trips however may include overnight camping in Yellow Bayou Camp. The other hotels in city also offer lodging services at affordable costs. The cost of a trip does not include tanning services. In Wildlife Lodge and Savanne waterfowl, accommodations are offered for overnight trips. Provost Adventures specialize in hunters trips only.

The hunters are given an orientation before the trip begins. The hunting can be made during sunset or during the sunrise only. The seasonal and daily quota is as equal as the tags that every hunter has. Hunters are allowed to get any size of the reptile in their hunt. Different ways of getting the catch can be used.This involves hook and line, bow and arrow, and firearms however short guns are highly restricted.

Non-residents can hunt the animal as a Sport hunter but the guide must accompany them. The guide must have valid tags. The non-resident can be issued with a tag in case he has leased a land and has done the proper presentation of their information in their documents.

The licenses issued to non-residents are a bit low than that issued to the residents. This license is known as Sport Hunter licenses. Louisiana is well known for its breeding of alligators in US and in the whole world. Hunters harvest up to over 30,000 wild gators yearly while alligator farmers hit over 280,000.

Gators hides can be sold to licensed fur dealers or buyers at the market. Sometimes, the reptiles are sold in whole to the fur dealers at processing industries in LA where they manufacture various products. The other buyers can plan to get meat, skin, and the other parts of the trophy from the sellers in the habitats. The Gator Management Program has recorded an alarming rise in production of gators at the swamps and marshes of coastal region of the city.
