Choosing A Premade Bug Out Bag For Sale

By Amanda Baird

Beginning your evacuation preparations should start with deciding on the right premade bug out bag for sale. You could decide to collect and install all the components yourself, but it is much easier to pick a bag and add to it the items that are more specific to your own situation. You will get many ideas about items that you may not have considered. The bag must be easily available to you and must contain items that would allow you to leave your residence quickly in an emergency.

You may not realize that a bug out bag also has other names. Originally, the idea for the bag came from the "Bail Out Bag" that military aircraft personnel had at hand in the event of a emergency evacuation from a plane. The kit is also called a BOB, for obvious reasons. You might refer to a Go or Grab Bag. You could prepare a GOOD Bag (Get Out of Dodge); an INCH Bag (I'm Never Coming Home); or a PERK Kit (Personal Emergency Relocation Kit. Using a 72-Hour Kit or Battle Box means the same thing as Bug Out.

The idea behind creating such a bag is to be ready to evacuate your home quickly if necessary and survive for up to 72-hours. The contents of the bag should provide for short term and emergency survival. Typically, it would not be provide long term survival elements. This type of bag is much different than packing for a holiday weekend at a resort.

You should make certain that the bag is made of strong and durable materials. It must hold a number of items securely. Water resistance is important if you are likely to evacuate during a storm or flood. The bag and contents should be manageable in size and weight by the person who will be carrying it. One popular choice is a back pack type bag.

The portability of the bag is important. The best equipped bag is useless if it is too heavy to carry. Poorly made or overloaded bags that come apart during the emergency evacuation can be life threatening events. You should probably experiment with a loaded bag to determine if the weight and size of the contents are appropriate for the user.

The basic components which must be part of every premade bag are those relating to food and water, clothing and shelter. Those elements will be present in all bags. Other items which provide for the next level of comfort include soap, first aid, lights, feminine supplies and similar items. You can add even more items which might include bedrolls, tents and chairs.

You should include your own additions such as medical and identification documents, maps and cash. Other items which are necessary are related to any children, elderly or pets in your family. You start with the basics and add items for comfort.

A premade bug out bag for sale is usually just a starting point. It helps you think about the difference between necessities and "nice to have". The locale is going to determine the necessity for some items as opposed to others.
