A True Prepper Survival Pack Has A Lot Of Necessary Things

By Edna Booker

There are many things that can happen out there. Many people think that those things will involve a foreign invasion, an overbearing government or a large flood. It could also be massive power outages or other weather related issues. When things like this happens, you will have to leave your home, possibly for quite a while. That is when you will need what experts call a Prepper Survival Pack.

This pack, often known as a bug out bag, has s specific purpose and that is to survive for a short time away from your home and normal supply channels. Each member of your party, be that a family, or loosely associated group of individuals, should be responsible for the actual carrying of their bag or pack.

The time line for the use of this kit is about three days. That means you will be living out of this pack or bag for that time, at least. This amount of time should enable you and your party to find something that is a more secure, whether that be with other family or friends or a site that can be fortified, if worse comes to worse. A good look at the ingredients of this kit will help you understand the importance of preparation.

Water for three days means about a gallon per day. This is not a time to concern yourself with taking a shower every day, but you will need to stay hydrated. If you are moving all of the time, this requirement can not be overlooked. This is also a heavy item, however, it is only one of a few things that have a lot of weight.

Food is next on the list. Do not pack a lot of cans as these get heavy very fast. Dehydrated snacks and meals are available in many survival stores and some are found in regular grocery outlets. These are light weight and only need a little water and some heat to make them a nutritional meal. Military personnel use these in the field and you are definitely in the field.

A tent or tarp can be your temporary home away from home as long as it keeps the rain and other harsh weather conditions out. The sleeping bag or a set of blankets for each person is also critical. You need sleep after a day of battling the environment or other dangerous conditions. Keeping everything dry and damage free will help you accomplish a level of comfort you need.

First aid is something most people do not think about when at home. Medical care may be few and far between, so you will need bandages, disinfectant and sanitary wipes as a bare minimum. Regular medications your party takes will need to be included as well as pain relievers and anti inflammatory drugs. Water purification pills will also help in a last resort sort of attempt at sanitary drinking water.

If you have food, water, shelter and a good knife, hand crank radio and flashlight, you are probably good to go. Remember, the idea is to pack light and have it all in back packs so it is easy to carry. The most important part of this preparation is to only take those things that are necessary, plus book or a magazine, just in case.
