Information About DIY Kits Of Duracoat Aerosol

Gun enthusiasts want the best when it comes to protecting their firearms and customized finishes. Especially when those finishes include ferrous metals, wood, stainless steel, synthetics, and alloys. For people who prefer a difference in the appearance of their guns, DuraCoat offers different textures to please most gun owners including varieties of camo and pearl. Some people create layers of textures and mix and blend colors to help identify their firearm from that of anyone else.

One of the nice things about this product is the hardener that comes with it. The aerosol can is a can within a can and allows putting the hardener in without making a huge mess. The usual ratio of 12 parts DuraCoat to 1 part hardener, and greatly speeds up the drying process. Change the ratio to 10:1 for a higher glossy finish that shines like brand new.

When using the stick on templates, they leave an adhesive residue that is easily removed using mineral spirits and a clean, dry cloth. Be sure to remove all of the adhesive before applying a coat of the DuraClear so that they do not leave bubbles on the finished project. Also use a good cleaner to remove oil, grease, and any other contaminants before applying new finishes.

For the fastest drying time, many gun owners use a heat setting of 110 degrees F for about 1 hour to speed up the process and reassemble their weapons. Once the surface is completely dry most cleaners, abrasive solvents and lubricants will not harm the new finish. For best results allow three to six weeks for full drying and curing.

Many people like the idea of colorizing their weapons and are amazed to find out that there are over 200 factory colors available. Then they find out all of these colors are mixable to create any color and shade necessary to make their weapons unique from those of anyone else.

Before getting started be sure to use a good cleaner to remove all the dirt and debris that accumulates, even if the firearms stored in a closet or gun bag. DuraCoat Cleaner dries immediately and leaves no residue or film thereby ensuring a smooth and attractive finish.

Please make sure to unload the firearm before starting any cleaning process, or customization and even then make sure the safety of on. Once the cylinder, magazine, and the chamber is empty, continue dismantling your weapon and place the parts in the order in which removed to make it easier to reassemble them, later.

There is no such thing as too much safety when dealing with firearms that use explosives. When cleaning and oiling guns use the proper tools to dislodge any debris especially inside where dirt often collects. Then use the very best grade products to clean, maintain and customize your entire collection.
