Try Zara Phillips Clothing For Riding In Style

By Alyce Powell

Horse-riding has always been a favorite pastime for the British upper classes. It is steeped in tradition but female riders also have a reputation for not exactly being leaders when it comes to fashion sense and style. You don't have to look drab when you're an equestrian, however. If you want to look and feel like royalty while enjoying a day out with the horses, you may want to consider investing in Zara Phillips clothing for style and comfort.

Zara Phillips is technically a princess. She is the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen of Britain. She doesn't have an official title because her father, Captain Mark Phillips, does not have a title and being descended from royalty through the maternal line doesn't grant a person the right to a title. However, even though her parents tried to give her and her brother Peter a normal childhood, there's no denying their blue blood. After all, Granny and Gramps live in a place called Buckingham Palace and Prince Charles was the one who chose her name.

The Queen's granddaughter did extremely well at school, going on to qualify as a physiotherapist. She's also been very sporty throughout her life and took part in various sports while at school. For a while her rebellious antics were wonderful tabloid fodder but since she's married rugby player Mike Tindall and especially now that they're expecting a child, she seems to have settled down and has become the graceful young woman that a princess should be.

Both Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips were champion riders. In fact, Princess Anne was the first member of the royal family to represent her country at the Olympic Games, in Montreal in 1976. It was inevitable that their daughter would follow in their footsteps and she was world champion in eventing for a while. She also won a silver medal at the London Olympics in 2012.

Zara has never really been known for her sense of style. Sometimes her ensembles were so far off the fashion mark that the papers ridiculed her for it. She was, after all, a bit of a tomboy and was interested in things other than clothes. Lately she seems to have turned into the proverbial swan, however, and has won increasing praise for her style choices.

Since 2010, the Queen's first granddaughter has embarked on a different venture as clothing designer. However, she doesn't design little cocktail dresses that go with high-heeled shoes and handbags. Someone as sporty as her would prefer clothes for the great outdoors and her range is specifically for horse-riding.

The ZP176 range got its name from Zara's team number, which she received upon representing Britain for the first time. Naturally an equestrian champion will know what riders would want in their clothes and her designs are functional and practical, yet she doesn't compromise on style. They include staples such as jackets, chaps, socks, neck tubes and headbands.

The range of Zara Phillips clothing has been designed for Musto Outdoor Clothing. This clothing company supplies gear for lovers of sports like sailing and riding. They're based in Britain but deliver in many other countries, even as far afield as America and Australia. If you find yourself in England, you may also want to visit one of their stores so that you can appreciate the ZP176 range first hand.
